Our functional tests.

  • GI MAP

At Wholistic Renewal, we love using the Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus (GI-MAP) because it provides unparalleled insight into gut health, allowing us to get to the root of your health issues and craft a targeted, personalized protocol for you.

This advanced, at-home stool test is one of the most powerful tools in functional medicine for restoring balance and optimizing gut health. Since the gut is at the center of skin, hormone, immune and mental health, this test is foundational for every healing protocol.

The GI MAP gives a detailed look at your microbiome, detecting harmful bacteria, parasites, viruses, and other disruptions that may be impacting your health. This functional test also measures indicators of digestion, absorption, inflammation, and immune function.

Markers: Opportunistic microbes, commensal keystone bacteria, pathogens, viruses, fungi, H. Pylori, parasites, Beta-Glucuronidase, Occult Blood, Calprotectin, Steatocrit, Elastase, SIgA, and Anti-gliadin IgA.

  • Mediator Release Test

When it comes to healing, reducing inflammation is essential. The Mediator Release Test (MRT) uncovers hidden inflammation triggers that often go undetected by traditional testing.

Developed by Oxford Biomedical Technologies, this patented test analyzes your immune system's reaction to up to 176 foods and chemicals, providing an invaluable tool to identify inflammation-provoking items.

Unlike IgA or IgG tests, the MRT explores subclinical inflammation, which can cause subtle but chronic symptoms like digestive discomfort, headaches, joint pain, and fatigue, even when no immediate allergic response is present.

By quantifying your body’s inflammatory response with a rating and green/yellow/red score, the MRT provides an accurate picture of which foods your body tolerates best and which are contributing to your symptoms. This allows us to create highly personalized, anti-inflammatory protocols that reduce your inflammation at the root, and accelerate your healing by leaps and bounds.

  • Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH)

The DUTCH test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) provides the most in-depth analysis of sex and adrenal hormones, along with their metabolites.

Unlike traditional hormone panels, the DUTCH test not only measures hormone levels but also reveals how your body processes and metabolizes them. This comprehensive view includes key insights into adrenal health, reproductive health, energy production, oxidative stress, nutritional deficiencies, and liver health.

The DUTCH test is especially helpful for uncovering root causes of common hormone-related issues like PCOS, insulin resistance, irregular periods, endometriosis, and even erectile dysfunction. It can also explain troublesome symptoms such as weight gain, sleep problems, acne, and fatigue.

Markers: Free cortisol, metabolized cortisol, DHEA, melatonin, progesterone, testosterone, estrogen, estrogen metabolites, six organic acids, and more. See the sample test for a complete list.

  • MycoTOX

The MycoTOX test provides a comprehensive assessment of mycotoxin exposure, toxic metabolites produced by molds. This advanced, urine-based test measures a wide range of mycotoxins, targeting exposure from 40 mold species and 11 different mycotoxins.

Since mycotoxins can significantly impact immune, hormone, and neurological health, detecting them is key to addressing chronic symptoms and promoting healing.

Markers: Ochratoxins, Aflatoxins, Gliotoxins, Trichothecenes, Zearalenone, Enniatins, Fumonisins, and more.

  • Comprehensive Thyroid Panel

The Comprehensive Thyroid Panel with Antibodies & Reverse T3 goes above and beyond routine thyroid tests, which only measure thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and total T4. It gives a comprehensive view of thyroid function by measuring TSH, T3 (free and total), T4 (free and total), reverse T3, and anti-thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies. The thyroid gland is the master of metabolism, so identifying dysfunction here is essential to crafting a comprehensive healing protocol.

    Markers: Anti-TPO, Anti-Tg, T3, T4, TSH, fT3, fT4, rT3

  • Glyphosate Test

This is a single-marker urinary test measuring glyphosate levels. Glyphosate is the world’s most widely produced herbicide and is the primary toxic chemical in Roundup™ and many other herbicides. It can enter the body directly through the skin, by eating foods treated with glyphosate, or by drinking water contaminated with glyphosate.

Studies are uncovering the damaging effects of glyphosate, specifically on the gut microbiome, which is foundational for brain, immune, hormone, and detoxification health. These insights provide answers and inform our comprehensive protocols.

  • Mucosal Barrier Assessment

The Mucosal Barrier Assessment (MBA) is a comprehensive gut health assessment through three key markers: Zonulin, Histamine, and Diamine Oxidase (DAO). These markers offer insights into gut and immune function by measuring the health of the small intestine mucosal barrier. Intestinal permeability or “leaky gut,” nutrient absorption, villi-integrity, immune activation, and inflammatory processes are all reflected in test results.

Markers: Zonulin Family Peptides (Zonulin FP), Diamine Oxidase (DAO), Histamine, and DAO:Histamine Ratio.
